Week 3 - Your BOY Elder Hamm

Howdy y'all. It's your BOY back with another email. Yessir. This week was really good, but it also had it struggles.

If you want to see my photos, here is the link😁😁😁.

This week, we had some great lessons and member meals. I'm finally starting to learn the language 😆.  There are a ton of cats in Jesup and the surrounding areas. We are teaching some really cool people. I still can't believe how different the West coast is to the south. In Washington religion is not something brought up much and most people don't go to church or haven't in a while and are generally not interested in any message you have to share. Whereas here, religion is something often talked about and is easy to bring up. A lot of people here say they believe it all and know it all and they go to church every Sunday. But a lot of the people here don't have a testimony they just say they know. Other people are the complete opposite they have a really strong testimony but aren't interested in going to church at all. I love that everyone is so kind and always want to talk no matter who you are or what they are doing.

It has gotten a lot hotter here. Thankfully, the humidity has gone down. Not too many storms this week. We had some great conversations with people that just wanted to talk religion but weren't interested in taking lessons. I always love what they have to say even if they aren't really interested. I had some amazing pasta for some member meals. The lemon chicken pasta was so gooooood. The number of chicken restaurants here is insane. I'm getting a feel for the area and I cant wait to see whats next for me.

Today is a day where you get a little bit more free time to prepare for the week ahead, call family, email, and do fun activities. Today, I got to go Axe throwing. It was a blast. I, for some reason, can't do it one handed. A big storm decided to come on through so traveling back to the apartment was kinda dangerous.

Being in a town that has a lot of families with low income is really sad but it also makes me appreciate everything I've been given throughout my life and I've learned to appreciate everything.

The spiritual thought I would like to share with you today is that God is always going to be accepting of you no matter what you've done. You can always turn back to him and be forgiven. There's a scripture in 1 Nephi 10:18. It says "For he is the same yesterday today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him." I know that God is going to continue being our father who watches over and cares for us. God has a plan for us, and he prepared the way, from the very beginning of the world, for us to be able to be forgiven of our sins. I know that Jesus Christ suffered on the cross to allow us to be forgiven, and God prepared the way for that. I know that all we have to do is repent of our mistakes. I know that if we ask God, he will help us and answer our prayers. I especially like the part that days he is the same today and forever I really do know that.
I love y'all so very much and wish the best for each and everyone of you. I know God has a lot in store for you so go and find it.

Elder Hamm 💙💙💙
